Ok, they weren’t this bad, and just looked a little wet. Wrong! I landed flat on my back and slid down all of the steps in front of my house. OUCH! But the best was yet to come...

I picked myself up and crawled back into the house where I proceeded to pass out . I woke up with my face smashed into the corner, between the door and wall. The nosepieces on my glasses are bent way out of position thanks to my faceplant  and I am seriously sore - arms, knee, ankle , back, head. All this because I wanted to get some salad.

I don’t have a problem with snow, but ice fucking terrifies me. The only place I like it is in my drinks, thankyouverymuch. Given what I just went through I think I’ll stay home and avoid all the idiots on the road that have no idea how to drive on this crap. In a way I’m happy I’m not dispatching anymore as I can see vehicles sliding all over (and off) the roads, and now I don’t have to deal with it.

The pain is getting a bit worse, and I don’t have any fucking insurance. Hopefully it’s just sprains and scrapes otherwise I’m screwed. I’m just going to crawl into bed and ignore the world for a little while...

It was only four steps, but yeah, that's what it felt like.

But it’s payday, and I just received a bunch of money from my former employer. PTO payout probably , which is odd since I was terminated for exceeding my PTO balance...

Damn....hope you’re OK! I had a bad fall chasing one of the autistic kids that was running off school property into the road a few weeks back. Caught him, but we both slipped on ice and I landed flat on my back. He was fine, but I literally knocked the wind out of myself and could barely speak for a good 5 or ten minutes. The other teachers were worried.

Had a REALLY sore neck and left shoulder for weeks though and it’s only just starting to be less sore...

I just tried to lay down on my back and, well,  I can’t. I did stumble into the bathroom for whatever NSAID I have up here ‘cuz I don't think I'm going downstairs anytime soon. I'm not going to take any chances since it's 19 steps. I really want that peanut butter cup ice cream I grabbed last night, but it's just going to have to wait...

Apparently, the stunt guys didn't have anywhere to hide anything to break their fall so that it wouldn't appear in the shot (they filmed the exterior shots at a real house in Chicago), so the stunt guys literally threw themselves down stairs for real.

Week before Christmas I slipped on ice on the trolley stop. Pulled my right shoulder trying (and failing) to stay up, smacked my righ t knee on the pavement, but was fortunately was just sore. Three fucking days later I slipped on black ice in my sister’s driveway. Managed to miss her husband’s Jeep (for better or worse), but hit my right knee again , this time hard . Shoulder and leg would not take any weight, though I managed to turn myself over at least. Rushed via ambulance to the ER (which, given Pittsburgh’s shitty, shitty roads bounced my leg around so much I saw STARS). Scared the hell out of everyone, though my nephew later got to sit in the other ambulance that showed up, so that was cool. Three hours and several X-rays later, no broken bones (thank God!), just a mess of contusions and pulled muscles. Gave me a shot (can’t remember if it was a muscle relaxer or pain reliever ) and a walker, wrapped my knee and called in a script for one opioid or another. Was able to ditch the walker by the day after Christmas, and my PCP prescribed Celebrex for lingering pain in my shoulder and knee. A follow up ultrasound did not find any blood clots (Again, thank God!), though I’ve got a case of cellulitis , so I’ve got another script for antibiotics I’m taking .

TLDR: Fuck snow, ice, and winter in general.

Days like this make me miss SoCal. I remember the low outside temp warning on the E34 going off because the temp in Costa Mesa got down to 39. That’s the lowest I ever saw in the LA basin, and that only happened once. I miss those warm winter days...

Well there you go. I’m sorry you had to learn this lesson the hard way. :P

Precisely. I’m going to find my way downstairs for bourbon, steak and ice cream. To hell with being healthy...

Damn, sounds like me...I could barely function for a few days until it became tolerable, but it was still really sore after that...sortof a very dull, yet...not sharp, but...hard to describe....at any rate, very painful to try moving my left shoulder and neck for days.

Sounds like yours might be worse though, hopefully you didn’t sprain anything?
